Tribes: Aerial Assault and the history of the Shazbot.

Robin Williams sings the shazbot blues on the television show Mork and Mindy.

Mork and Mindy plus some Happy Days.

The origins of the phrase Shazbot.

The origins of the phrase Shazbot can be traced back to legendary actor Robin Williams. His role as Mork in the television series Mork and Mindy. The show centered around the character Mork. An alien from the planet Ork. Who came to planet Earth to study human behavior. The show was a spin off from an episode of Happy Days. The producers liked, relatively unknown at the time Robin Williams so much. It was decided to do a spin off series. Mork and Mindy was born. Eventually leading to the term Shazbot being used in the show as a reactionary phrase. Equivalent to the modern English use of the term "crap". Also, other choice terminology. We are trying to keep it pc here. Either way you get the message.

Eventually this alien connection and the fact that Tribes games take place in outerspace and on alien worlds. Would be the driving force behind shazbot entering the Tribes Universe. As if this was the first profanity from another world. It helps us connect as human beings to a game based on alien world's. It's a timeless tradition if you are struck by a midair shot, fall to hard, or accidentally step on a mine. To signal with the old shazbot phrase. This history wss included into the Tribes: Aerial Assault game. It also continued on in the Tribes games beyond TAA. Our guess would be it will also be used in the newest version of Tribes. Due to be released within the game DEADZONE soon.

Significance of Shazbots to Tribes:Aerial Assault Tournament

The Slapdash Statue

While many Tribes: Aerial Assault websites list this as a Tribes: Aerial Assault cheat, crack, etc. They are just pandering for your clicks. It is actually a tribute placed there by the development team. This secret or hidden statue is located near the edge of the map near the boundaries. This statue nicknamed "The Shazbot". Would go on to be modified to Gold, Silver, Bronze, and Midnight Blue to be used as tournament prizes for Tribesaa.com Guild Tribal Tournaments.

Golden Shazbot Trophy

The Golden Shazbot Trophy was the highest prize a clan could receive. These were given for a clan who won the Guild Tribal Tournaments on the Tribesaa.com web forums. The clan would have one added to the image next to their clans private forum. The members were also allowed to use them as avatars on the Tribesaa.com web forums.

Silver Shazbot Trophy

Silver Shazbot Trophy

While everyone was aiming for Gold. The Silver Shazbot Trophy was just as significant. It was given to the team who lost in the final match of a given GTT. The format being similar to the Olympics. With Silver representing a second place finish in the standings.

Bronze Shazbot Trophy

Midnight Shazbot Trophy

Tribes Aerial Assault Bronze Shazbot Trophy

The Bronze Shazbot Trophy was awarded to the third place finishing team. This was given to the team who had the highest score in their loss to the teams who moved on to the finals. Since out of four teams only two advanced to the Gold and Silver match. So even those who were knocked out of competition in the final four had incentive to score as many points as possible.

The Midnight Shazbot Trophy was given to each team that participated in the Guild Tribal Tournaments. These were a good way to see how long a clan had been in competition as well as how active they were for the tournaments. Clans were able to sit out a tournament at their discretion and not lose the private forum on the Tribesaa.com forum. Well established clans would have multiple Midnight Shazbots. This trophy was an honor as well. Even though it was a participation trophy. It established your clan as a legitimate competitor if you were able to play in Guild Tribal Tournaments.
